THE RESIDUAL INCOME CHECKLIST
9 questions to ask before you commit to any home business
Run any opportunity through these. If it can't answer them cleanly, walk. This is the exact filter I use, built from 20 years inside the industry.
- The residual test. How much am I paid residually for each customer and each distributor? Not the bonuses, the monthly residual. That's the freedom number.
- Customer-only income. Could I earn a solid, consistent income from customer sales alone, with zero recruiting?
- Real product love. Would people still buy this if there were no comp plan attached? If not, it's a recruiting scheme wearing a product costume.
- Consumable or renewable. Is it used up or renewed every month, or is it a one-time sale you have to keep replacing?
- The 5-year rule. Has the company been around at least 5 years? Most don't survive 2, and most of those don't pass 5.
- Leadership track record. Does leadership have real field experience, a clean reputation, and a habit of actually listening to distributors?
- Private, not public. Is the company privately held? The moment one goes public, the focus shifts to investors, not to you.
- The fine print. Do I understand the policies that could be used to cut my pay once I'm finally earning big and slow down?
- The leverage check. Does this business give me more freedom as it grows, or does it quietly consume more of my life?
If you only check three: residual per customer, product people actually buy, and real leverage. Those three decide whether you're building freedom or a second job.
WHILE THE CHECKLIST LANDS
When I ran my own business through this, it failed most of these questions.
Then I found the one that passes. Real residual income per customer, a done-for-you funnel system that does the selling for you, and leverage that gives you more freedom as it grows, not less.
If this checklist just made you nervous about where you are, this is exactly what I'd look at next.
